Random

Just wanted to document a few things while they are still on my mind...

Paul is working so hard (he always does, but recently it seems especially evident)...I feel like the guy is pulled so hard in so many different directions on a daily basis and is constantly concerned about so many people (our own little family included)...and everyone's well being, that I can only imagine how overwhelming it can be. As a woman, I would break down but Paul amazingly has it all together. We have had some amazing conversations lately and I love every minute of them! I love feeling so close to him and feeling like we are working together as a team to accomplish and achieve things! We are seeking the direction of our Father in Heaven more and what His plan is for us so that we can be instruments in His hands and be in the places He needs us to be. I have no doubt that the Lord has great plans in store for both Paul and I so we want to make sure we are constantly seeking His guidance. Life can be challenging at times BUT peace and comfort CAN be found...I know this to be true!

Funny side story about Paul...the other night we went to the store to stock up on some more waters and Gatorades... Paul is infamous for driving around and around the parking lot until he finds the BEST parking spot...I'm starting to get used to this...anyways after a few circles he got a little annoyed and said, "What's up with all these Expectant Mother Parking Spots?" With a little nudge I said, "Honey...I'm an expectant mother!" Paul's reply as he pulls into one of these spots, "Oh yeah...SWEET!".... So nice that he can forget! Even when I get in the shower he'll say "Whoa....you are pregnant...I keep forgetting!" Nice....you'd think my big belly would be a constant reminder, but I guess with EVERYTHING else on his mind, this baby and pregnancy seems to slip his mind!

Brooklynn amazes me each day...growing up too fast! Speaking more and more words and now starting to put words and phrases together. This morning she handed me my phone and said "Here ya go." SOOOOOOO CUTE!

Yesterday my brother Ryan sent me the link for his new blog since he accidently erased his other one...anyways...I was looking at his pictures of him and his gf Brooke on their trip to Coronado. Without provoking anything from Brooklynn, she pointed to the screen and said "Ryan" and then a short pause, "Brooke". I was shocked...I called my brother immediately to tell him! Ryan and Brooke spent quite a bit of time with Brooklynn at the River and she became a little attached...but we've been home now for over 2 weeks....could not believe she remembered! It was exciting!

However she still sees pictures of Uncle Joshie and calls him "daddy"...we'll continue to work on that.

I'm hoping I might be in some luck to potty train Brooklynn this fall when we return home before baby #2 comes. It would be great to only have the baby in diapers but whatever needs to be will be...I'm not going to force anything upon Brooklynn or potty-train myself to take Brooklynn to the toilet every few hours...she will need to be interested herself and do it on her own...Anyways, recently she will come stand next to me and say "pooh pooh" while she is pushing...she is intrigued with the toilet and always wants to throw her wet/dirty diapers in the trashcan for mommy when we are done changing her. What a helper...we shall see.

This girl eats like you wouldn't believe. It's not unusual for B to eat a whole banana and 2 waffles for breakfast and then an hour or two later be ready for a snack! It's crazy...I feel like I am feeding her all day. We have developed some bad habits this summer when it comes to the eating department...with me being so sick at the beginning and now really needing to graze all day long! Not to mention she is slowly becoming a finicky eater- no fun! Needless to say she is a healthy little girl!

Her obsessions...Books, the pool, shoes, when daddy comes home, string cheese, apples, music and dancing (will say "again" for more all day long), babies, mommy's phone, cups, blankets and her binki (I know, I know...I have been saying for months I was going to get rid of it- its much harder than I ever thought)! Oh and turning the sink faucet on and off, brushing her own teeth, and dogs! She also LOVES to go bye-bye. Being in the house with mommy day after day can get a little boring...we went to the pool this morning and she had a ball...loves to jump into mommy's arms and be swung around on top of the water!

Brooklynn is so good at being polite, by saying please ("peas") and thank you...with it's appropriate sign as well. I love it!

Maternity Clothes

I have an entire bin of maternity clothes packed away at my house in Utah...didn't even think to bring them this summer....which has left me with limited choices in my closet. Few things fit these days so I just dread getting dressed. I have gone shopping a few times for clothes but always decide against purchasing them because I'd rather spend the money on something else, or I simply think maternity clothes are incredibly overpriced!

In my internet searching today I did find two sites that were reasonably priced with some cute clothes...so for all my pregnant friends..if you are interested, the websites are www.kikisfashions.com and www.taketwomaternity.com

I have been desperately searching for a cute maternity dress that I can wear to my Aunt's wedding and the Northstar banquet. I literally spent Brookolynn's ENTIRE 4 hour nap today on the computer looking for dresses! This is what I have found: Is it formal enough to wear to a wedding? What do you all think?

Disappointed

So here is the scoop...

3 weeks ago we went into a birthing center ultrasound place to find out the gender of the baby (we were referred there by a friend...but had no idea it was an hour away). While we were there baby was not cooperating...it was moving all over the place, sitting on its bum with its hands between its legs. The lady could not get a very good shot but thought from one picture it was probably a boy...65% chance she said. Okay I thought...my suspicions since the get-go have been that this is a boy...I was right with B so we shall see. She told me not to buy anything just yet but come back in a few weeks and she would do another for free to give me 100%. She told me not to book an appointment but rather to just call and see what her schedule was like and then just come in...So here we are to today...

I called last week and they told me to come in between 9-1 on Wednesday. So Paul, Brooklynn and I took the two-hour round trip trek this morning to this lovely birthing center, arriving at about 11am, and as we are pulling into the parking lot, Paul thinks he sees the ultrasound lady leaving...and sure enough it was her! The front desk lady called her and asked her to come back but she refused...asking me to come back next week! I was annoyed to say the least! I told the front desk lady that we live an hour away and I had called to see what her schedule was like and they told me to come in any time between 9 and 1 and it was only 11! But apparently she wanted to leave for the day. Needless to say, this place said they had another ultrasound lady but she was in a delivery- I could wait if I wanted but they couldn't guarantee when she would be done! Okay I thought...any other options! She asked a midwife to come play around with the machine to see if she could see the sex... So off we go. She did the ultrasound and at one point both of us thought we saw a girl...weird I know (Paul got secretly excited when she said that) but we never got a clear picture...either these women are not very good at ultrasounds or this baby is just STUBBORN! Needless to say, we left a 2nd ultrasound with nothing! More confusion than even before! I was very upset and disappointed you can imagine...maybe we should just let this one be a surprise! What do you all think about that?

So 20 weeks (this was me this morning) and still no official word on what Giddings Baby #2 is!

Paul thinks we should just wait til we get back to Utah to find out- THAT'S 2 MORE MONTHS...Ugh...but he said if I really wanted we could go back again next week and see! I don't know what to do!

Movie Date

Houston has this really cool place which takes after the idea of dinner and a movie... You go to the theater to watch the movie and in the theater you sit in comfy chairs at a table and order food to eat while you watch the movie. It's a really neat place and perfect to take kids to and kill two birds with one stone and still make it home in time for a good nap!

Anyways, the other day some of us went to see the Time Travelers Wife...ABSOLUTELY loved it! And yes I cried! It was a nice afternoon out and very much needed!

Brooklynn and Quinn sat for 2 seconds next to each other and Jenna and I tried to capture B giving him a kiss...this was the best we could get...they both were a little distracted by the previews on the big screen! Still cute.

Heaven

She just makes me smile!

Office Incentive

I'm starting to loose track of days and weeks because they all blend together but I think it was last week that Northstar's owner and our good friend, Jason Christensen, came into town to visit and pump up the office! He even sold with some of the guys here...what a leader! Anyways, the Monday he was here he threw an incentive out to the guys that if they could get 15 deals that day he would take them all to dinner at the Cheesecake Factory. I have to admit I was somewhat skeptical in thinking they could pull it off, but it lit a fire amongst them! They ended that day with 17 sales! I was so proud of them...so at 10:00 at night we all arrived for a delicious dinner at Cheesecake Factory on Jason! Thanks so much! And good job Houston!

Brooklynn was smack in the middle of her ear infection so she was not feeling good that night and was completely zoned out! Poor thing, but she just sat nicely next to daddy for the two hours we were there. I am pretty sure she was alseep in her carseat before we even got out of the parking lot! Gotta love summer sales and eating dinner sooooooo late at night (I had actually made myself dinner that night and ate already so I just indulged myself in a yummy dessert!)

Robbie and Sarah Wood, EJ, Tatum, Roman and Brett Olsen, and Jamie Conde

I warned Mike this would be on the blog...he still did the goofy face!

Little sleep for Mommy...6 nights in a row now!

Tubes here we come....except why is it that ENT's never have appointment spots quicker than a month out! So annoying!

Luckily B has been taking 4 hour naps the last three days again so I have gotten some naps in!

It is so sad when as a mother there is little you can do to help your child's pain go away!
It breaks my heart.
Soon baby girl, soon!

Paul's 27th Birthday Celebration

Since Paul and I have been married I have learned he LOVES his birthday! Unfortunately because of our "summer sales" lifestyle we are never really able to celebrate like we would like because we BOTH have summer birthdays. But nevertheless, Paul loves to play the birthday card as long and as much as possible...meaning he will tell me..."It's my birthday month"... "It's my birthday week"...etc..to get what he wants or to be pampered a little bit more than usual! I can't say it always works, but I do TRY to be a good wife and show him how much he means to me by celebrating his birth!

This year was once again full of quite a few celebrations. On Saturday night, at his office dinner at Sushi (yuck), his guys got him a birthday cake and card and they all sang to him at the restaurant! Then Sunday morning, I made him a DELICIOUS breakfast and he opened his cards and gifts! He loved them all...thanks to all who thought of him! He spent the morning hanging out with his Brooklynn and laughing and playing and then later that day we went with some friends down to Galveston Island. It was surprisingly really nice. Paul enjoyed the scenery and the company and it turned out to be a great day! Then on Monday his boss, Jason, brought cake and ice cream to correlation to celebrate just a little more! I have his favorite cake, with candles, to make but figured we would do it some other time just for fun since he has had so many cakes! Monday night he was also able to open his gift I had been working so hard on, thanks to so many of you! I published and bound a book of his family and close friends thoughts and memories of him over the last 27 years! It meant so much to him...almost brought him to tears reading what everyone thought of him and lots of laughter reminiscing with all the stories and memories we all wrote as well! The main theme through out was how fun Paul is to be around and everyone just enjoys being in his presence. So true!

Need I even say how much I love this man?! I am so lucky...I count my blessing everyday!

Here are photos from Galveston: (Thanks to Jenna for the beautiful photo shopped pics)

Brooklynn calls any large body of water "pool"..too cute!

love, love, love this picture of Brooklynn...falling asleep on mommy after a long day!

18.5 weeks prego...hot and sweaty...nasty hair...nothing left to wear = ugly pic!
but Jenna helped it out- thanks!

Paul's souvenir to take home...careful on the rocks next time honey!

The bikes we rode...more of a workout than we all bargained for!

She loved the seashells her daddy collected for her!

Looks like these two (Paul and Andrew) could be twins! Jenna...did they plan their outfits? (Wouldn't be surprised if Andrew's shirt is a Northstar shirt too...haha).
Walking behind these two is funny...same height, same legs, weird..maybe Andrew is Josh and Paul's triplet...

Oh he loves the beach!

Getting so sleepy mommy!

Love precious daddy/daughter moments...

She is destined to inherit both Paul and I's ugly calves.
So sorry baby girl!

Some of the damage from Hurricane Ike last summer that hit Galveston Island head on!

Keeping the girl hydrated...her daddy is always so worried about her...especially in the heat!

At Sushi (Yuck) office dinner.

All the guys in Paul's office call him batman because they think his chest and abs look like batman's...nice compliment! Yes, I know my husband is super sexy!

The guys bringing out the cake and singing..

Paul has always looked like such a giant next to Brooklynn.

Silly girl...I love you!

Cousins

While B and I were enduring our layover in Vegas the other day...she made friends with these two little boys. After awhile I noticed that the two ladies watching them were identical twins. I had no idea which was who's mom as they both disciplined both children. After awhile, I asked if they were cousins or brothers because they looked so much alike! They were cousins. Of course I thought of Brooklynn and Violet. As Violet is getting older, I have had more and more people tell me how much they think they look alike. (Not surprising...half their DNA is exactly the same). Sometimes I see pictures where I think they do and other times not so much...but I thought it would be fun to put some pictures of both of them up when B was the same age (Cas...I hope you don't mind me taking some pictures from your blog).

I have been working with Brooklynn lately with pictures of her daddy and uncle Joshie. Whenever we go to look at pictures of cousin Violet...Brooklynn sees pictures of Uncle Joshie and says "Daddy". No thanks to Joshie...whenever we do see him he likes to confuse Brooklynn by saying "come see daddy"...however I think she will figure it out soon!

All of these pictures are 6-7 months of age.
