Busy is an UNDERSTATEMENT

So the girls and I have been in California with my family for over a week now and we have been BUSY! I have been helping my parents redecorate almost their ENTIRE house, spray painting frames to do 3 different wall collages, taking down blinds, shopping for and hanging up new drapes, shopping for new furniture, cleaning and throwing out OLD stuff, redoing and spring-cleaning the tops of my mom's cabinets, helping with misc wedding decorations, cooking dinners, addressing and stuffing Cody's graduation announcements, making bows and bracelets for the girls for the wedding, while still nursing Maylee 5 times a day and being a mom! I think I was less tired with newborns, but I am glad I can help out my energizer-bunny parents who have bitten off a lot right before my brother's wedding! (Re-carpeting their whole house, new backsplash in the kitchen and planting flowers for the wedding)...yes crazy, but hopefully it will all come together and look AMAZING... I'm sure it will!

Brooklynn is enjoying ALL the attention and so many people to play with. She loves Grandma and Grandpa's BIG house and roaming around their yard! Maylee has become such a content and happy baby...we are all loving her to pieces! We have also enjoyed all the time to spend with Great Grandparents. So many events coming up to blog about later.

We are missing our Daddy (Paul William)...can't wait to be reunited with him this week! XOXOXOX!

Maylee's Baby Idol Nursery...

It's FINALLY done...
well pretty much anyways. Still want to do some drapes on the windows, and crown molding.
Overall, I am really happy with it.
Thank you to my sweet hubby who followed my directions pretty well and did all of this...
(Putting furniture together, painting the stripes on the wall and the ceiling, hanging the chandelier and Maylee's name)
Thank you also to Jenna for designing Maylee's cute name.

I wouldn't necessarily call this my "Dream Nursery" but for getting the furniture and bedding for free, I am one happy girl!
And for now it will just look pretty because Maylee is still sleeping in her cradle right next to my bed! Soon enough we will transition her into her crib...all the way upstairs!

A little catch up...

Well I have been MIA for sometime now. I have actually been crazy busy with one thing or another. We've been putting the nursery together, the one we won. We are just about complete, so pictures to come soon! We are also preparing to leave for California here shortly....just the girls and me (Paul will be joining us later). So many exciting events happening in my family over the next few weeks and I didn't want to miss out on any of it!

In the mean time, Maylee has gotten so big! She has found her voice and she loves to make noise! No doubt, it is a high pitch squeal most of the time, but we don't mind. She has also started to cut her first tooth...which has resulted in a few restless nights. She is constantly rolling over to her back when enduring tummy time so we flip her frequently. We started trying, key word trying, to give her rice cereal. She still has a ways to go until she gets the hang of eating from a spoon, but we will continue to try. Her little legs are getting little rolls and I LOVE THEM! Pretty much obsessed with them actually...every time I change her diaper I can't help but to pinch them! We also love to make her laugh and smile, which is really easy these days (love 4 months). SHE LOVES ATTENTION and is perfectly content as long as she can see someone. She especially loves to play with her big sister, Brooklynn. She has started to inch her way out of her Maylee burrito (her wrap), but still goes to sleep better with it. She isn't attached to her swing anymore (thank goodness...I was tired of buying batteries). And she is thoroughly enjoying all the free diapers and baby supplies that mommy won her! She has THEE MOST ATTRACTIVE bald spot on the back of her head from moving her head back and forth while sleeping, but other than that she still has a good head of hair. Her eyes still remain blue, but kind of bluish-green. I seriously fall more and more in love with her EVERY SINGLE DAY. I love having two girls!

Brooklynn is a riot. Her vocabulary is phenomenal. Her voice is loud but sweet and tender. She is smack dab in the middle of her "do it by myself" stage, which obviously has tested and tested and tested my patience. She will literally stand back up to lay back down when getting a diaper change if I laid her down, because she wants to do it "by herself". She loves to turn her nightlight on and off, before and after nap time and bedtime. She cries every Sunday when it is time to go to nursery and clings to me, but she always quits 2 seconds after I leave. She loves Brother Davies...one of her nursery leaders. Paul laughs because she always comes home smelling like his cologne. She still drinks like a camel, is obsessed with cantaloupe these days, along with fruit snacks of course. She loves to blow bubbles and write with her sidewalk chalk, whenever the weather is nice enough to go outside. She looks forward to every Friday when she walks to the Library with her friends: Sydney, Kate, and Alena Birchall. And loves when we go to Logan to see Anna! She is still an amazing little helper and adores her baby sister. She is singing all kinds of songs these days too... Itsy Bitsy spider, Mary had a little lamb, ABC's, etc.. She also wants me to write her name on EVERYTHING (coloring is a frequent activity in our home when the weather is yucky outside), so hopefully she will start to recognize each letter and learn to spell it on her own soon. She truly is a joy and fills our home with an enormous amount of love and snuggles!

Paul is busy building his company....knocking doors...honey-do list, the usual. Although he has recently taken up a new hobby of making video montages, and I must say he does GREAT work.

I am busy with the girls, laundry (amazing how much laundry 4 people require...can't imagine what it will feel like when we have that many more kids), cooking, the usual. I have my moments where I have reached my limit, but for the most part I love everyday. I am grateful that Paul has the flexibility to really help me out a lot.

Life seems to be streaming right along...time really is just flying by.

This last Sunday, Mother's day, we were able to talk to my brother, Skyler, on his mission in England. After we hung up, I cried tears of joy and gratitude for my family. I love them all SO MUCH and am so glad we get to be together FOREVER! In that moment, I was reminded that family is what it is all about...the greatest joys in my life are my family, and they are the undeniably the BEST!

Mother's Day was busy but nice. Paul made me breakfast (pancakes) and made me the cutest video montage of pictures since becoming a mommy. I cried of course. Brooklynn also gave me a card, a big hug and said, "Happy Mother's Day". No doubt Paul had been practicing that line with her and she performed it perfectly! We spent the evening in Logan with family and really enjoying everyone's company. The kids played outside and I enjoyed watching them!

It seems that with each to-do list I have successfully completed, a new one has begun. Life is never-ending. Days, weeks, and months repeat themselves. Looking forward to summer, sunshine, and memories with my girls and my Paul William.

WE WON!!!!!!

Thank you, thank you, thank you to all of you who voted and helped!
Miss Maylee is THEE BABY IDOL of 97.1 ZHT!

1st Place:
Our grand prize winnings include:
A Dream Nursery from Babinski
and A YEAR SUPPLY of diapers and baby needs
(in the form of a $50 gift card, every week for a year).
An estimated prize winning of $5,000.

The story:
I went to bed Thursday night pretty bummed because I hadn't heard anything about us making the top 3. (The website said the top 3 would be invited in-studio to announce the winner and runner ups LIVE on air at 8 am Friday morning. I assumed this meant me driving to their studio in Salk Lake, hence they would have had to give me notice the night before)
I set my alarm for 7:45 am because I still wanted to listen to who won,
BUT....
at 7:15 am, Friday morning my phone rang. They said,
"Ashley, this is 97.1 ZHT, you made the top 3 on baby idol!"
I jumped up and responded,
"Your kidding!"
They said, "No, will you hold please?"
Of course my excitement woke Paul up and together we were grinning from ear to ear.
After a few minutes we were connected to the live air.
The hosts said they would announce the winners in 3-2-1 order.
(our number was # 238)
He said 3 was # 566...
Paul and I's excitement increased rapidly...
2 was # 632...
And then before he could even say our number I was "Wahooing" with joy!
They then congratulated me and told everyone her name is Maylee Kate.
They jokingly asked me if I knew who the father was
(Odd, yes I thought so too)
and I told them, "Of course, my wonderful husband, Paul"
They all laughed and we screamed with excitement again!

Still can't believe it!
We are beyond thrilled.
I will for sure post pictures of our nursery...Before and After.

Thanks again for all the love, help, and support...especially those of you who went above and beyond!
