Anyways, a month ago we were able to witness a little piece of history. We drove down to Titusville, which is a little coastal city with an excellent beach view of the Kennedy Space Center, to watch the last launch of the Space Shuttle, the Discovery. We arrived a few hours early and just let the girls romp in the water. When the big moment arrived we had girls and cameras in hand to count down to blast off! It was pretty cool. So fun to say we were there, we witnessed it and got the pictures- but I think one experience is enough :)
Brooklynn was so excited to see the "rocket ship" and she calls it the orange rocket ship because of the fire from the engines (or whatever they are). We could even see the rocket boosters detach.... and the sound was awesome! Maylee of course had no idea what was going on, but she thoroughly enjoyed the sand and water!
On our way..
Daddy's swimsuit was blocking the sun for Maylee :)
Typical Maylee head nod these days..
The Swamp.
Playing with daddy.
I guess she wanted to get in the water..
Feeling the water on her toes was exhilarating apparently... Pure joy!
Discovering...
Splashing and playing...
These little crabs swam all around our feet... guess they were mating.
And we have lift off!
See the orange...
Up, up and away!
The trail it left behind...
Just watch the shuttle disappear into space...
And it's out of this world....already!
Me and my girls- to document that I was there too!
Ready to go home!
Oh wait...dead stop traffic! We saw cars from almost EVERY single state in the country- Honest! Unbelievable how far people travelled to be there and apart of NASA history.
Yes the traffic going home was bumper to bumper (as anticipated), but we were still glad we went!
